Contemplating what I should do with my life..
Ok, I know its been a bit while since I have blogged and it has largely been due to work and various things I have had to do. Anyway, I have been having difficulty trying to figure out what I should honestly do with my life. I do pray about this a lot, especially at Adoration and Mass. It has been frustrating for me. I do have a real desire to be married although I haven't found any decent, devout Catholic men around here who also have a desire to be married. Just about all of them want to be priests, monks/brothers, or simply want to stay single and make no commitments. It can be annoying. I definitely know that we need more priests and I am definitely happy when there are more made but I also know that we aren't going to get more priests without having good solid Catholic families. Look at the Holy Father's family as an example. Due to the faithfulness of Mr. And Mrs. Ratzinger..Not one but two priests came out of that family. I think that is definitely a testimony of what a truly Catholic family can do when the parents are faithful and teaching their children--vocations will be fostered.
I know several people will say that I should look into being a nun/sister or just remaining single. Well, I have been searching in my heart as to what gets me fired up. Well, I know that I am fired up about the Faith, I love the Tridentine Mass and I am active in Una Voce, I also love intellectual discussions, reading history/religious books, and talking with others of different religions than my own. I am also a geek of the fantasy/scifi variety and yeah I get excited about stuff like that when a new movie or book comes out. So..what should I do? I don't have any desire to be a nun/sister but I want to do something related to the Church. I guess I feel that I would have more and I hate to use the word "freedom" to be in contact with a great variety of people of different backgrounds/religions who I can talk to and be some sort of witness to and have very fun intellectual conversations with.
I think that the main reason why I don't really have a desire to be a nun/sister is because I honestly don't have a Dominican/Franciscan/Benedictine/Carmelite type of "spirituality". In town we have the third order Franciscans and the third order Carmelites but I honestly don't have any desire to be involved with them. I desire to read and study Church/Ancient/Medieval history as well as the history of the Norse/Anglo-Saxons/Celts. I guess you might say I am more of a scholar in that sense. So, what exactly should I be doing? Teach? Maybe..I dunno. LOL...This is why I haven't blogged much since I have been thinking about this a lot. I am definitely going to talk to the priest about this although I am sure that I did talk to him about two years ago about a similar situation but he knows me well so I'm sure that such a conversation will hopefully be fruitful.
As for as other stuff to blog about:
Hurray for the Holy Father and the Italian bishops that that stupid referendum didn't go through in Italy about the loosening of the restrictions on embryo/fertility research. The Holy Father and the Italian Bishops had encouraged the people to boycott it and many of them listened to them.
UGH! Is all I can say about the reaction to the Terri Schiavo autopsy. It seems that some in the media are "gloating" about this one. The point about that whole sad fiasco is this: so what if she had no hope of recovery. Her parents were willing to take care of her and just because one is severely brain damaged..That does not mean that one has any right to kill them.
Aruba case of that missing girl: sad, tragic story. But...What the heck was that girl thinking?? Going out with strange fellas to a night club? And where were the chaperones?
Michael Jackson case: no surprise at the outcome of that case. However, I think that he does need to get shipped off to an asylum somewhere. The "guy"? needs serious help.
Anyway...Enough of this particular post. Its almost 2:30 in the morning and I have to be at work in a few hours. However I have to say: see Batman Begins. It is the movie that should have been made first although Tim Burton's Batman I thought was good but the others were terrible. This one however, is pretty good and it raises many good issues.

Have you tried the Online Catholic Singles services? Yeah, yeah, I know, "those are for losers", "what will people think", etc. But you know what? That's how my wife and I met, and we're now a thriving Traditional Catholic family of four and growing!
Will keep you in my prayers. It was the same for me many years ago... I was in a religious community for 2 years sure that God was calling me to the priesthood but it didn't turn out to be the case. Now 13 yrs later, I am married (have been for 4 years). Just be open to His Will and it will all fall into place. Nice to see another Traditionalist in cyberspace with a blog! :-)
